Edit curve points

Move curve control points to adjust a path. A small change to its controls shapes the smooth curve between them.

Before you start

Add a NURBS Curve or NURBS Circle from Add, or select an existing curve object. Select one curve at a time for point editing.

Use the operation

Shape a path by moving its control points while keeping the curve editable.

  1. In Modeling, select the curve and press Tab to enter Curve Edit Mode.
  2. Select the control points you want to change. Use G to move, R to rotate, or S to scale the selected points.
  3. Confirm the transform and inspect the curve between the points. Press Tab to return to Object Mode.

Controls and choices

ControlsWhat changes
Control pointsA NURBS curve is influenced by its control points and need not pass through every one. Judge the resulting curve, not only its control polygon.
Point versus object transformEditing selected points changes the path’s shape. Moving the object in Object Mode changes its placement as a whole.
SelectionA selects all curve points. Keep only the intended points selected when refining a local bend.

Concept illustration. The diagrams explain the operation. Your result depends on the starting geometry and settings.

Check the result

Inspect bends from more than one angle and look for abrupt changes in direction. A smooth screen projection can still hide an unwanted bend in depth.
