Extrude 3D text
Turn a letter profile into a dimensional object. Show3D exposes text content, font, size, depth, and bevel parameters.
Before you start
Add a 3D Text object from Add and keep it selected in Object Mode. The Text panel appears for a supported text object.
Use the operation
Create raised lettering with editable text, font, and depth.
- Enter the text and choose an available font in the Text panel. Wait for the selected font to load.
- Set the text size and depth. Check that the chosen font contains the characters you need.
- Enable beveling if appropriate, then keep bevel size small enough to preserve counters and narrow strokes.
- Move and rotate the text object into position, then apply a material for the intended surface.
Controls and choices
| Controls | What changes |
|---|---|
| Text and font | Changing either regenerates the text geometry. Available glyphs depend on the selected font. |
| Size and depth | Size sets lettering scale in the generated geometry; depth gives it thickness. Object scaling is a separate transform. |
| Curve and bevel segments | Higher segment counts smooth curved glyphs and bevels while increasing geometry. Use only the detail the final view needs. |

Before
A flat letter outline
After
A letter with depth
Check the result
Inspect spacing, missing glyphs, inner holes, and thin strokes from the final viewing distance. Keep an editable text copy before making topology changes that may discard its text parameters.
