Remesh
Rebuild the surface with a different mesh density. The illustration shows an approximate shape-preserving target, not a guarantee of automatic production topology.
Before you start
Return to Object Mode and select the intended mesh alone. The tool accepts supported non-skinned meshes without active modifiers.
Use the operation
Rebuild a mesh at a target density when its existing topology is unsuitable for the next step.
- Open Remesh in the modeling sidebar and read the current and target face counts.
- Choose the target ratio and leave Deterministic enabled when you want repeatable processing for the same input and settings.
- Run the operation and wait for it to finish, or use Cancel while it is running. Inspect the rebuilt mesh before continuing.
Controls and choices
| Controls | What changes |
|---|---|
| Target ratio | The interface offers 5–100% of the current triangle count, with a minimum target of 100. The target is a request, not a promise of an exact final count. |
| Detail retention | Lower density can remove small grooves, thin parts, and sharp features. Compare those areas before accepting the result. |
| Rebuilt surface | Treat topology, UVs, and material appearance as items to inspect after remeshing. It is not a universal repair or automatic production-retopology guarantee. |
See what changes
Before
A dense triangle surface
After
A coarser triangle surface
Check the result
Compare silhouette, openings, thin regions, and texture appearance against the original. Undo and increase the target density if important features disappear.
