Align vertices
Move selected vertices onto the same world-axis coordinate. The other row remains fixed.
Before you start
Enter mesh edit mode and select the vertices that should share a coordinate. This aligns components within editable meshes; it is not an object-distribution command.
Use the operation
Straighten a selected row or boundary while leaving other vertices in place.
- Use vertex selection and choose only the row to straighten. Inspect hidden vertices if Select Through is enabled.
- Open the mesh context menu and its Align submenu.
- Choose Left or Right to align to the selected minimum or maximum world X coordinate; Down or Up uses minimum or maximum world Y.
- Inspect the adjoining faces for stretching or collapse. Undo and narrow the selection if unrelated vertices moved.
Controls and choices
| Controls | What changes |
|---|---|
| Left / Right | The current menu maps these choices to world X minimum/maximum. They are not screen-relative after orbiting the camera. |
| Down / Up | Maps to world Y minimum/maximum of the selected vertices. |
| Selection extent | The selected extrema determine the target coordinate, so one distant selected vertex can change the result. |

Before
Uneven vertex heights
After
A level edge row
Check the result
Aligned vertices should share the chosen coordinate; the other coordinates and unselected vertices stay in place. Alignment changes positions without merging vertices. Use Merge only when the vertices should actually become one.
